Str@ndleven21 2008 was initialized jointly by the Municipality of Zandvoort, the district of Noord Holland and the ‘Zandvoorts Museum’. Spread over ten beach clubs at the North Sea Coast, visitors were invited to take a look at the works of several young artists. The Groene Honden were invited to exhibit in three beach clubs situated in Zandvoort. The interactive and playful installations were based on the elements air, earth and light.
For Beach Club Mango’s the Groene Honden created an interactive and wind-driven game of four-in-a-row, composed of tall bamboo poles, with custom made wind-bags in two different colours.
Neighbouring Beach Club ‘Bruxelles aan zee’ had an installation inspired by the element ‘earth’ that was both playful and practical. Out of bright-coloured, sturdy sand bags, a life-size game of Tetris could be played on the beach, or, more leisurely, the bags could be used as elements to sit or lay on.
Further down the beach, at beach club ‘Havana’s, an intriguing game of light, shadow and wind creates flying seagulls out of 3-dimensional wallpaper, with different scenes every hour of the day.
